Sarah, as a PT and now friend, has managed to change my outlook on fitness and life in less than a year!

In November 2017 I decided enough was enough, as it had been another year of getting in better shape and then going on holidays and things happening and losing all motivation and being back at the same point I started or worse, so I got in touch with Sarah as another friend had told me about her.

It was coming up to Christmas and we both had holidays so we decided that January was a good time to start. We met up in January for coffee and I instantly felt as ease with Sarah - we discussed my previous experience and future goals with fitness but also life. I personally wanted a lady PT, being a girl myself and not the most confident I thought this would help me feel more comfortable and it did. I started with one session a week as I wasn’t sure how I was going to find it and never has Sarah pushed me to do more.

I was so nervous for my first session, to walk into a gym that I didn’t know anyone, but Sarah met me outside so I didn’t have to walk in on my own.

From the get go my sessions have been full on with Sarah pushing me to my limits every session, more than I would have ever pushed myself. Yet she has got to know me and my body and knows what I am capable or more than I do! There is no time to even think at my sessions whether I can do it or not as I’m already doing it before I can with no time wasted.

She’s given me guidance for when I go to the gym myself and has taught me exercises I never thought I would be able to do.

Not only exercise, Sarah has given me nutritional guidance which has educated me and I have a different view on food now. I was reading things and doing different diets and was actually sticking to them but was never getting the results I wanted with my body always getting to a certain stage of change and no further, I have now got past that stage and feel I can keep going and get to where I was to be with more motivation. We take photos and do tape measurements as Sarah feels it is a better way to gauge progress rather than just the scales (we use these as guidance).

I always thought getting fitter meant more cardio and I hated cardio, especially running but now I enjoy going for a run as I feel so much fitter. Getting fitter for me hasn’t even been through running, instead Sarah has had me doing weights and circuits using body weight and conditioning at the gym without me even realising that I’m getting fitter until a couple of months ago when I did something similar to what I did at the beginning of the year and I was so much easier with me being able to do the harder version and from then on I keep noticing small but big changes with my progress and how far I have come. The gym now isn’t somewhere I hate, but instead Sarah has changed my outlook and I enjoy going, with it being a way for me to relax and clear my head.

It sounds cringey but no words can express how much Sarah has helped me this last year with bumps along the way in life but my training and eating seem to be a constant and relatively easy to stick at and something to concentrate on. Sarah doesn’t know it, but my mental health has improved so much since starting with her as she always been there to listen but motivate me to get out and do some exercise.

One of the best decisions has been investing in my own health as yes I have lost a lot of fat and gained muscle (lost 7kg in weight), I look better and feel more confident, but I also feel a much healthier person in general and have one person to thank, Sarah Tambling.
